This natural dioptase crystal cluster shows off one of the most intense greens in the mineral world: glossy, emerald toned crystals packed across a warm host rock. The supplier notes each specimen is natural with no repair. Every piece is photographed on its own with its weight and dimensions, so you can choose the exact cluster you want. It is a jewel of a display piece for a collector cabinet or heart centered altar, and a gift that stands out.

Product Highlights

  • Material: Natural dioptase, a copper silicate mineral, on its natural matrix, with no repair.
  • Form: Raw cluster specimens from our raw crystals and clusters collection.
  • Size: Specimens weigh about 14-127g and measure roughly 32-82mm at the longest point; each photo lists that piece's weight and size.
  • Options: 36 individual specimens listed by weight. Where pieces share a weight they are marked #2 or #3.
  • Selection: Exact Pick. The specimen you choose is the one you receive.
  • Natural variation: Crystal size, coverage and the color of the host rock differ on every piece.
  • Chakras: Traditionally linked to the Heart Chakra and Third Eye Chakra.

Chakra Connection

With its rich green color, dioptase is traditionally connected to the heart chakra, where it is associated with forgiveness, emotional renewal and opening up to love again. Some crystal practitioners also link it to the third eye for its vivid, clarifying presence. Many people keep dioptase nearby during times of change or grief as a symbol of the heart healing at its own pace. Clusters, with their many small crystals, are seen as pieces that share their energy with the whole room. Explore more stones like it in our Love and Relationships and Healing collections.

How to Use

  • Place it on a heart centered altar or bedside shelf as a reminder of compassion and renewal.
  • Pair it with malachite or rose quartz for a green and pink heart chakra display.
  • Display it in a cabinet with a small light so the green crystals sparkle.
  • Hold the specimen by its matrix during a short heart focused meditation.
  • Give it to a mineral collector or a loved one going through a new chapter, for a birthday or anniversary.

Crystal Care

Dioptase is fairly soft at about 5 on the Mohs scale and has perfect cleavage, so the crystals can chip if knocked. Handle the specimen by the rock, dust it with a soft brush, and avoid soaking or cleaners. As a copper mineral, it should be kept away from small children and pets, and hands should be washed after handling. See our crystal safety guide for simple precautions.

FAQs

Is this real dioptase?

Yes. These are natural dioptase crystals on their original host rock, and the supplier notes there has been no repair. The deep emerald green color is completely natural, coming from copper in the mineral.

Will mine look like the photo?

Yes. Each option has its own photo with its weight and size. The specimen you select is the one we send, so you can see the crystal coverage and host rock before ordering.

How is dioptase different from emerald?

Dioptase was once mistaken for emerald because of its color, but it is a copper silicate and much softer. Emerald is a beryl. Dioptase usually forms small, sharp crystals on rock rather than single long prisms.

How big is it in the hand?

Smaller pieces around 14-30g are palm sized, 40-60g specimens fill the hand, and the 114g and 127g clusters make generous cabinet pieces with lots of crystal coverage.

Is it fragile?

It is sturdy enough to display, but the crystals chip if pressed or dropped. Learn how it compares to other stones in our Mohs scale of hardness guide.

What Is Dioptase?

Dioptase is a copper silicate mineral that forms in the oxidized zones of copper deposits, where copper rich water slowly crystallizes in cavities and on rock. Its name comes from Greek words meaning "to see through," a nod to how light reveals its cleavage inside the crystals. It is one of the rare collector minerals in our other crystals collection. Dioptase is often compared with malachite and emerald, but its glassy, sharply formed crystals and intense green set it apart.

Each crystal is natural and unique, with no two crystals being identical. Some crystal may contain naturally formed cracks within itself, not caused by other objects.

Please note that size, color, and patterns may vary due to the different batches of crystals and its natural inclusions, or hand measurements.
